Hi! Welcome to Anne Grier Health! I’m so happy to have you here! I’m a mom of 3 kids, one learning to drive, lover of ice hockey, 16 year old son, one 13 year old middle child, my only daughter, provider of hugs, smiles and laughter who loves to dance. And my youngest child, a son, keeps me on my toes and questioning my parenting abilities on the regular! He also likes hockey and loves football and has the biggest heart, but hates being the youngest child at age 9. They keep the mileage on my car high, busy in the kitchen and always challenged to find a good balance! Parenting is hard and I love getting together with other mothers so we can make eachother feel less alone in this.
I’m a registered nurse who had to put that on hold when my husband was a professional hockey player because we moved around so much. Once he retired, I decided that, while I maintained my RN license I didn’t actually want to practice as a nurse anymore. I became certified as a gentle sleep coach and advised families on how to get their babies, toddlers and preschool age kids to sleep well. I still enjoy this work, but I am on a health journey myself, one that has taken me to alternative health and am finding more success in that arena. It makes sense to me. It makes sense that nourishing food gives my body key nutrients. It makes sense that restorative sleep is part of healing. It makes sense that meditation, yoga, acupuncture, exercise, time in nature and prioritizing self care can help the body to heal. And it was happening, I was healing my turbulent digestion, my moodiness, my sugar cravings.
It is an ongoing journey for me, I continue to try new ways of nourishing the body, new tools for increasing health and longevity. I am experimenting with intermittent fasting as well as longer fasts, I’m including sauna therapy and cold water exposure into my week. My adrenal glands have been tired so I am experimenting with altering my workouts and increasing my meditative practice. I love to exercise but the intensity has had to temporarily come down. I would do more yoga, but then my headaches increase, so then I increase the strength training and I feel pretty good. If I don’t have a good night’s sleep then I know I can’t push it too hard the following day. I need to honor my body, take care of it, respect it. I did not always do that. I am learning. I am always learning, and love to learn.
I had been working so much on my own health, I enjoyed nutrition and functional medicine. I became a functional medicine health coach. I took a coaching course, a positive psychology course and an environmental toxin course. I am finishing up my Functional Nutrition Lifestyle Practitioner certification.
Food is medicine. Functional medicine looks at the body as a whole and at the root cause of a symptom. I enjoy my work as a sleep coach but I also want to help others discover the power of healthy nourishment, the link between sleep, exercise, and health. I want to help others find their own path to robust health.
This is where Anne Grier Health was born. I help women struggling with stress, overwhelm, diet confusion/frustration, poor health/sleep/digestion, hormone imbalance, gut and adrenal issues. We work together to discover what eating plan is most nourishing for your body at this time in your life. It might be the same as your sister or friend and it might be completely different, we figure this out together. If symptoms are improving we pivot to support that, if symptoms are not improving or changing into other symptoms, we change to support what is happening in your body. We work on a lifestyle plan, not just your nutrition. Health is about your whole day, not just food. Health is about feeling good in your whole body and mind.
I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your own health journey, no matter where you are in your journey, just beginning or somewhere in the middle.
